Can You Skip the GTA Online Tutorial After Starting? What to Try

Once the introduction has started, there is no verified universal pause-menu switch that marks the entire GTA Online tutorial complete. If the game offers a specific Skip prompt, read what it skips. Otherwise the most dependable route is to complete the active objective on the same character. Advice for the original Lamar introduction and advice for the newer career introduction often describe different screens.

Identify the introduction you are actually playing

A ride with Lamar and an early race point to the original Los Santos onboarding sequence. If you selected an Executive, Biker, Gunrunner or Nightclub Owner career and the game is directing you towards that business, you are following a different introduction. Do not waste time looking for Lamar’s race marker when your objective tells you to enter your office. Follow the instruction displayed for your character and edition.

Use an offered skip for its stated scope

A choice during character setup is different from skipping a cutscene, bypassing one failed activity or completing the whole introduction. If a screen offers Skip, check whether the next objective is still part of onboarding. Some older guides describe repeated failures producing a skip prompt. That is not a verified rule across every edition, mission or career. Spending ten minutes deliberately failing is a poor bet when the current objective may take less time to finish.

If the mission appears stuck

Read the instruction in the corner and any recent in-game phone message. Look at the full map for the destination and enter the indicated marker using the required vehicle or entrance. If the marker will not trigger, check whether you are on the correct floor or still waiting for a call. If restarting becomes necessary, use the game's normal exit flow after a save when possible. A restart tests whether an objective reloads; it does not grant completion. For a recurring block, record the edition, platform, objective text and what fails.

Keep your character and its Career Builder allocation

Rockstar documents Career Builder for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC Enhanced. Its GTA$4 million starting allocation is a one-time benefit, and no more than GTA$1 million can be carried into play after the required selections. Deleting a character that used the benefit does not give the account a fresh allocation. If your goal is simply to join friends, finish the current introduction on that character before making permanent changes to your progress.

See the Career Builder rules for further details.

Common Questions

Will switching sessions finish the tutorial?

A session change does not establish completion.

Does skipping a cinematic unlock free roam?

Only if the underlying required objectives are complete.

Should I delete my character to start again?

No. That is a disproportionate fix and does not reset the one-time Career Builder award.

Why does my friend's guide show another mission?

Their edition, career choice or onboarding progress may differ.
